(Boise, Idaho) – Governor Brad Little and Secretary of State Phil McGrane proclaimed September as National Voter Registration Month and September 15, 2026 as National Voter Registration Day in Idaho, encouraging eligible Idahoans to register to vote or make sure their voter registration is up to date.
The proclamation highlights the importance of voter participation and encourages Idahoans to be aware of the state’s voter registration requirements and deadlines ahead of the November 3 General Election.
“I encourage all Idahoans to make a plan to vote in the upcoming November 3rd General Election,” said Secretary of State Phil McGrane. “That starts with making sure you are registered and that your registration is up to date with your current name and address. I appreciate Governor Little joining us in encouraging Idahoans across our state to get registered, get informed, and be ready to vote.”
Idaho joins other states across the country in observing National Voter Registration Month in September. First established in 2002 by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS), this nonpartisan effort encourages civic participation and helps ensure voters are aware of their state’s registration deadlines and requirements. National Voter Registration Day, held this year on September 15, is a separate nationwide nonpartisan effort that brings together election officials, civic organizations, businesses, schools, and community groups to promote voter registration.
The Governor’s proclamation states, “I encourage all interested, eligible citizens and all appropriate media outlets and civic organizations to participate in this nonpartisan voter registration awareness campaign to encourage the maximum participation of qualified voters in Idaho.”
To register to vote in Idaho, you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Idaho, and at least 18 years old by Election Day. The deadline to register online at VoteIdaho.gov ahead of the November 3, 2026 General Election is Friday, October 23, 2026. Same-day registration is also available at early voting locations and at the polls on Election Day.
